Materials List
Improved Version
  1. Forty-five inch 3/4 inch dowel (left hand) handle.
  2. Spacing guide stick 7 inches long, for 6" spacing 1 1/2" wide and 1/4" thick. (See Stan's right hand in the picture; he was holding the guide stick.)
  3. Pressure block 2" long, 3/4" thick by 1 1/2" wide (glue to top of guide stick)
  4. Copper wire, 14 gauge, rolled on one end to act as a stop and the other end is straight and has a small insulated electrical cap screwed (wire nut) onto the copper wire to keep the wire in the predetermined depth.
  5. The holes are drilled in the dowel for usual planting depth.
  6. Then slip the spacing guide stick onto the dowel, insert wire for the desired planting depth, screw on wire nut and enjoy making precision holes for planting!

The planting stick is no longer available to purchase, but you can make your own by following the above directions.
